Brief Biography

Dr. Charles O.P. Marpaung

Charles O. P. Marpaung received his B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Institute Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia; Master of Science in Applied Statistics from Institute Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Indonesia; and Ph.D. in Energy Economics and Planning from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. He did his post-doctoral work in Sophia University, Japan. He is now a Visiting Faculty in Energy Field of Study, School of Environment, Resources and Development, AIT, Thailand.

Dr. Charles has carried out several research projects in the area of energy economic modeling and climate change funded by several international institutions such as SIDA, NIES and ADB. He has conducted some training in energy modeling in several South Asian countries. He has published more than thirty international refereed journal and conference proceedings papers, seven booklets, and ten research reports. He is also a reviewer of some international journals. He is now supervising several Master- and Doctoral-students. At AIT, he is teaching three courses, i.e., Energy Statistics and Energy Demand Forecasting, Energy Economics Modeling and Policy Analysis, and Electricity Economics and Planning.
